Going lighter requires stripping, which works well on smooth leather but may be uneven on heavily textured surfaces. Patent leather cannot be recoloured (the coating rejects dye). Maintaining Your Restored Shoes

After colour restoration, maintain the finish with matching cream polish (never wax-only, which builds up and obscures colour).
